Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)
- Neuro - the mind and how we think
- Linguistic - how we use language and how it effects us
- Programming - how we sequence our actions to achieve our goals
NLP was developed in the 1970s by Richard Bandler, a psychologist, and John Grinder, a professor of linguistics, as a method for personal change. It borrows and models the excellence from psychology, linguistics, cognitive science and occupational therapy to create a powerful set of techniques to support change.
At the heart of NLP is the wide range of methods and models it offers for understanding how people think, behave and change. It offers a flexible approach which supports positive, fast change in individuals and organisations. In the UK Paul McKenna is perhaps the best known user of NLP.
NLP, a talking therapy, is about modelling excellence, communication and effective, long-lasting change.
Amongst other issues, NLP may help with:
- confidence and self-esteem
- happiness and contentment
- overcoming fear
- overcoming past experiences

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is based on a new discovery that, simply stated, is an emotional version of acupuncture except needles aren't necessary. Instead, you stimulate well established energy meridian points on your body by tapping on them with your fingertips. Founded by Gary Craig, the technique is simple to use, non-invasive and can have amazing results.
It launches off the EFT Discovery Statement which says;
"The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system."
Fundamental to EFT is a belief that our physical pains and diseases are connected to our emotions.
This common sense approach draws its power from time-honoured Eastern discoveries that have been around for over 5,000 years and Albert Einstein, who told us back in the 1920's that everything (including our bodies) is composed of energy. These ideas have been largely ignored by western healing practices.
Amongst the issues EFT can help to resolve are:
- health and well-being
- self-esteem and confidence
- happiness and contentment
- overcoming past experiences

Clinical Hypnotherapy
Hypnosis, or trance, is a "pleasant state of relaxed concentration in which learning and openness to change are most likely to occur". You will have experienced the state of trance many times in your life, perhaps without even noticing - when daydreaming, meditating, watching TV, reading a book or exercising.
During hypnotherapy, you will be guided into trance by your therapist, in a comfortable and peaceful way. Your therapist will then support you to achieve the changes and results you want. You will remain in control at all times, and afterwards the most common sensations are feelings of calmness, confidence and general well-being.
Used in combination with the other techniques offered, hypnotherapy can help to resolve a wide range of issues and problems, including:
- confidence and self-esteem
- happiness and contentment
- calmness
- overcoming fear
- overcoming past experiences
Milton Erickson, founder of clinical hypnotherapy, was a psychotherapist and is often cited as" the most influential hypnotherapist of our time". Back to Top
