Kate's personal story
As well as being a wheelchair user as a child, I developed ME in 1999. I spent years (and thousands of pounds) trying anything and everything to get well - when I had the energy! I had all but given up hope but then I discovered the Lightning Process and my life turned around. You may have read about my recovery from ME using the Lightning Process on Phil Parker's website, this is what I wrote, just two weeks after learning the Process:
I feel like I have my life back and I now have the potential to live, what to others may seem an ordinary life, but to me feels like an extraordinary one.
In the two weeks prior to learning the Lightning Process I:
- went out for dinner with friends - once
- lay on the sofa and ached
In the two weeks since learning and applying the Lightning Process I have:
- been to Brighton, on a whim, to walk by the sea
- been out for dinner with friends - twice
- completed an hour and a half of yoga
- helped my friend who is eight months pregnant rearrange her home (ie I lifted furniture whilst she directed)
- been to Cheltenham for the weekend
- visited my mum
- been out for a friend's birthday
- had lunch with a friend
- been power walking
- been to the cinema
- planned a trip to dive with seals and whale watch.
My clarity of mind is better, and I am being more productive at work. I have energy. I am happier than I have been in a long time. I am excited about the present and the potentiality of my life in the future.
This was more than two years ago and, from spending much of my time in pain, lying on my sofa, I now enjoy an active normal life (although it still feels extraordinary to me!), something that I never thought possible It was when friends and family started commenting that it was so wonderful to "have me back" that I started to realise the impact my illness also had on those that cared about me.I feel so lucky to have recovered from such a debilitating illness, which is why I feel so determined to help others to do the same.
